Drinks to Avoid for Effective Weight Loss by Dia Miller

 Apple Cider Vinegar

When it comes to fasting, many people believe that apple cider vinegar (ACV) or ACV supplements are acceptable. However, according to Dia Miller, both ACV and bone broth contain calories. “Although very small, these calories will eventually break the fast metabolically,” Jones explains.

If you enjoy sipping ACV or ACV supplements outside of your fast, you can still incorporate them into your routine. “If the goal is to reduce total calories and give your body a longer digestive break and lower insulin levels, ACV is less likely to spike insulin levels than bone broth,” Dia Miller adds.

 Bone Broth

If you enjoy a warm cup of bone broth, it’s best to drink it after you’ve broken your fast. “Bone broth is popular in the paleo and fasting world because it’s nutritious and satisfying, but it does contain protein,” says Dia Miller. “Protein can spike blood sugar and insulin levels.” While protein doesn’t affect blood sugar and insulin levels as much as carbohydrates, it can still disrupt your fast.

Soda

If you’re wondering whether you can drink soda (including diet soda) while intermittent fasting, Dia Miller advises against it. She recommends avoiding soda in general, regardless of whether you’re following a diet like intermittent fasting.
