Nutritious and Delicious Foods That Support Bronwin’s Weight-Loss Journey

Losing weight can sometimes seem daunting and overwhelming.

Bronwin Says While losing weight can be difficult, there’s good news: With some strategic planning, you can incorporate a variety of foods that are both delicious and nutritious into your diet.

“The best foods for weight loss have built-in damage control—they’re so filling that it’s hard to overeat,” Bronwin says. “For example, vegetables have a low energy density thanks to their high fiber and water content, so you can eat a lot of them without consuming too many calories.”

Greek Yogurt

With nearly 20 grams of protein in a seven-ounce serving, low-fat Greek yogurt provides more protein than regular yogurt. It’s also packed with gut-healthy probiotics. Its thicker texture and milder flavor make it appealing to yogurt newbies, and it pairs well with any fruit. If you prefer something sweeter, cut down on added sugar by drizzling on some honey instead of opting for a sweetened yogurt.

Cinnamon

We all crave something sweet from time to time. By mixing cinnamon with sugar in a ratio of about four to one, you’ll find that you need much less sugar to satisfy your sweet tooth. You may even find that you don’t need any sugar at all. Try adding cinnamon to your tea, coffee, yogurt, or sprinkling it on fruit. If you’re taking casein protein before bed, a dash of cinnamon can enhance the flavor.

Romaine Lettuce

Kale, spinach, Swiss chard—each leafy green has its own benefits, so include them all in your diet, but don’t skip romaine. It’s filling and hydrating. Two cups of shredded romaine lettuce contain about a gram of protein and two grams of fiber, all for just 16 calories. Try cutting a head lengthwise and grilling it. Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for a filling, delicious, and simple dish.

Avocado

Feel free to add avocado to your meals. A 2019 study published in the journal Nutrients examined more than 55,000 adult men and women following a Seventh-day Adventist lifestyle and found that regular consumption of fresh avocado was associated with a reduced risk of being overweight or obese. Incorporating these delicious and nutritious foods into your diet can help support your weight loss journey while still enjoying your meals.
