The Importance of “Feeling Comfortable” in Your Own Skin and Mindy Kaling’s Fitness Routine

She walked away

Kaling claims that when she reaches her weekly distance goal, she feels most energized. I feel like I can stay awake and sleep better if I can walk 15 to 20 kilometers per week. So that’s always been very important to me. Additionally, she gushed about her trusty Hoka shoes, describing them as “really comfortable for the shape of my foot — I love them.”

According to her, she “used to be more of a runner, but when I ran, I had to shower right after.” And while “I can’t shower five times a day” due to my current workload, Kaling tries to sneak in a walk whenever she can. Just picking up the phone and going for a walk is enough every time I get a call. Even if I occasionally listen to music, it’s a great way for me to walk or run three to five miles a day, which is extremely important, Kaling points out.

She combines strength training

Despite her busy schedule, she is still aware of the importance of strength training. You lose muscle mass as you age. I remember hearing that a lot when I was little. “You had to start lifting,” she recalls. I remember thinking, “How can I be skinny?” a lot when I was little. This changed her perspective on fitness: “I saw firsthand the importance of” lifting weights and doing strengthening exercises, something she had previously been told was important.

She is consistent with her diet

“At this stage in my life, I feel like I have a good grasp of the nutrition recommendations for myself—more green vegetables, less red meat, and I personally try to limit my dairy intake,” Kaling says. .

She strives for consistency above all else. “I definitely try to stick to [my eating plan], not when I’m free and relaxed, but especially when I’m nervous, because that’s when I think I give the most detrimental choices for your health.

Kaling’s admission that her best efforts to eat healthy have not always been successful is comforting. I’m still perfecting my craft. I used to struggle with eating healthy, but now that I have kids, I’m much more motivated to do it.
